Robert Masciave was born in France on March 17^th 1969 from Southern Italian parents and is the youngest of three children. He left school at the age of 15 and joined a technical college where he studied electricity, electronics and mechanics. 2 years later Robert realised that he was destined to do something very different.
In the summer 1985 he started a 2 years course at a French hairdressing college. After the 1^st year of studies, he successfully passed men's hairdressing and theory exams. The second year he qualified as a hairdresser and went on to work as a young stylist in Metz, France. Shortly after he was given the opportunity to work in the United Kingdom.

Robert was 19 years old when he decided to leave France to develop his craft. In November 1988 he went on stage for the 1^st time to assist on a Guy Kremer show and joined his salon in  Winchester, United Kingdom where he worked and became his artistic director for 11 years.

In 1999 Robert opened the doors to his salon, METROPOLIS hairdressing Ltd based Kingston Upon Thames with his business partner, Shane Eyers who left in January 2007. Robert and his team are focused on the salon development and success. Metropolis was reviewed by The Sunday Times and Vogue as being ‘the most stylish salon in the area’ and reported to be ‘an excellent and enjoyable experience with well-mannered staff’.

Robert’s trademark style is lavishly extravagant yet extremely approachable.  Relentlessly passionate about his work, Robert continues to evolve as a craftsman, teacher and businessman. In the salon, his loyal clientele appreciate his precision cutting, sense of aesthetic, and European charm.

Robert became well known for his technical excellence combined with extraordinary vision and endless creativity.  His work has received three nominations for southern hairdresser of the year at the British hairdressing awards. He has positioned himself has one of the 6 best southern England hairdressers 3 years running and winner of the British L’Oreal Colour Trophy, one of hairdressing’s highest honors.

Robert has been featured in Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Elle and Vogue. He has also presented his distinctive work on stage at some of the biggest hairdressing shows in the world, including London Fashion Week, Salon International, the International Beauty Show in Paris and Dallas, and L'Oreal shows in Asia.
